Never too Broken to Restore

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.":Psalm 37:23-24
David is the only person in the Bible who went from a meager shepherd boy to Israel’s most renowned king. It wasn’t his strength, good looks or high IQ that got him there. It was his undying love for God that raised him from herding sheep to leading a nation.

For years he reigned as the unchallenged king of Israel. His every step was directed by the Lord, who gave him great success in all his endeavours.

Until, one day he decided to take a break from his responsibilities…

While the Israelites went to war, King David took a stroll on his terrace. And lo and behold, he saw a beautiful lady whom he wanted to marry. And so he did through ungodly means.

God was very angry with David and punished him for his dastardly deed. But, when David cried for forgiveness, God restored the relationship that satan had severed through sin.

Centuries later, the Lord Jesus took a leaf out of David’s Psalm, when He referred to Himself as the Good Shepherd in the ‘Parable of the Lost Sheep’. – Matthew 18:12-14

Such was the restoration, that the Lord Jesus chose David’s analogy to preach to thousands of people about the irrepressible love of God.

We may have turned away from God and indulged in immoral activities. No matter how deep we are in sin, rescue is never too far away. All we need to do is repent, ask for forgiveness and fix our eyes on the Lord Jesus.

He will find, rescue and restore our lives to the fullest, because He has promised:

God, your God, will restore everything you lost; he’ll have compassion on you; he’ll come back and pick up the pieces from all the places where you were scattered. No matter how far away you end up, God, your God, will get you out of there. – Deuteronomy 30:3-4
