And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have Jesus around in person-in flesh?! Would you be like one of His disciples, hanging out with Him as friend with friend? What would His disciples have felt after His ascension?
Jesus foreknew the mental, physical and spiritual challenges His disciples were going to face after His physical absence. He knew the trials and persecutions that were coming. His prayer to the Father was to preserve, defend, and sustain His disciples that they would not turn apostates. Turning apostate is when someone abandons or renounces their beliefs…Jesus knew the storms were going to be so severe that His dear ones would be pushed to the limits. He knew they might struggle to even hold on in faith. So, He went to His Holy Father and passionately interceded for His loved ones.
We know Peter was crucified upside down. James and Paul were beheaded. Philip, Thaddaeus, Andrew and Simon too were crucified. Matthew and Thomas were stabbed, Bartholomew cruelly put to death, Matthai burned to death.
Jesus is fully aware of what you are battling. Nothing you are going through is something that He hasn’t felt the pain of. His magnificent love continues to intercede for you as it did for His disciples. Spiritually, Christ our Lord continues to be with us through His precious Holy Spirit. He knows your name, He knows your every thought, He sees each tear that falls and hears you when you call. Praise be to the Lord whose love for you never ceases!
