Psalm 94:12 – “Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law.”
“Blessed is the one you discipline, LORD, the one you teach from your law.” (NIV) “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and he chastises everyone He receives as a son.” (Hebrews 12:6) “For the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father the son in whom He delights.” (Proverbs 3:12)
In these verses, discipline is not interpreted as a complaint, but as a blessing, because just as we discipline our children, so does our God -as a Father- disciplines us when we go astray, when we disobey Him. When we as parents discipline our children, we are teaching them to follow a certain behavior that will build them up in their character, and will make them better human beings.
When God disciplines us He is showing us His mercy and His love for us, because He only corrects those whom He loves. Because He is watching over us, because we are precious in His sight, because He truly cares.
Furthermore, as we read in Romans 5:3-5 “ We also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame.”
God has a perfect plan for us, even when it feels that the coordinates are wrong, the ultimate result will bring the best in us, while He is taking the trouble to perfect us, we need to rejoice, be glad, and feel the blessing of a God who as a Father singles us out, carries us through, for His honor and His glory, so that we may experience His good, perfect, and pleasing will.
