“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:21
Imagine a family playing a raucous game of carrom. Each player tries their best to score the maximum number of points. Nobody plays to lose. Irrespective of their skill level, each person experiments with several strategies to shoot as many coins as they can. Wanting to win is ingrained in us. However, we face numerous battles daily where we’re not victors.
When struggles come our way, when we’re faced by temptations, when stress overpowers us, our determination and strength often let us down and we end up feeling overcome. When we try to fight our daily battles on our own, we will fail. Each of us has our weaknesses – things we cannot overcome by ourselves. We need to rely on Someone who has promised that His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
The truth is that our Lord Jesus Christ has already overcome the world (John 16:33). Yes, we will have trouble when we’re in this world, but we’re already on the winning side. Jesus Christ has already won the war against sin and death. We only have to rest in the knowledge of God’s truth and trust Him to help us one day at a time. One day, we’ll get to reign with Lord Jesus for eternity (2 Timothy 2:12). But until then, we can rely on His wisdom and grace to get us through our daily battles.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for the victory we have in Your Name. Give me the strength to endure and overcome the trials that come my way. Strengthen my faith and draw me closer to you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
