Daily Devotion - Unbelievable News

Isaiah 7:14 – “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

How would you accept the news that a woman who was very young, was not married, became pregnant, without being with a man? This would be difficult to accept, correct?  What an unbelievable sign this would be, in fact, one that would cause a lot of controversy and raise many questions about a very young lady.

Then this young lady would have to explain to her family and her fiancee that she was going to have a baby; that this child would be called Jesus and that He would be called the Son of the Most High. (Luke 1:27-32). Definetely a confident young lady, one of great character, and extremely obedient to God, never doubting His perfect plan.

Maybe she did not realize the magnitude of what was going to happen: she was going to give birth to The Savior of all humankind.  Isaiah prophesized this event roughly 700 years before it actually took place, which is another incredible sign.  He also wrote “For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulders, And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6).

Maybe Mary did not fathom how Jesus would forever change the course of history. And that her child would one day grow up, become so powerful, impact so many people across so many countries and so many generations: The Son of the Most High God, Jesus, Immanuel.

Thank you Lord for choosing the right woman to bear Your only Son. Please help us be as obedient and as bold to follow through with whatever plan You give us; and use us Lord as You please. Amen!
