Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV): The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.
What is meant by ‘strong tower’? The dictionary describes it as an emotionally strong person who lends plenty of support or help during difficult times. Simply put, it is someone who makes us feel safe. Who or what makes you feel safe in times of adversity?
The last two years – thanks to an invisible virus and misleading media – have made many of us feel unsafe. Some of us have even felt unsafe for years due to broken homes, dysfunctional marriages, or unstable friendships. Each of us has felt unsafe at some point in time. But praise be to God our Father, the righteous have a strong tower in Jesus Christ.
In Psalm 28:7 we read: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song, I will praise him.“
When we live righteous lives according to the Word, we can safely count on the Lord to protect us. His presence is our divine covering, a safety net. No enemy can defeat us when we abide (24/7) in God and trust in His name. There is power in the matchless name of Jesus.
Let’s not allow fear, pain, or sin to create a barrier between us and God. When we live righteously, there’s nothing that can stop Him from shielding us. Precious one, today, the Lord is beckoning you and me to abide in Him. He wants to be our one and only strong tower, our refuge, our hiding place. Proverbs 30:5 reminds us, “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”
