Psalm 103:11-12 (NKJV): For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
How would you define being fearful of God? Fear of God is to love and recognize God for who He is and what He does. To fear God is to love Him and respect Him.
As we submit ourselves to God, He reveals Himself more and more to us. God’s ways are beyond our imagination and what a privilege it is for us to be chosen by Him as His children. When we accept God as our Lord and Savior, He extends His mercy towards us. The psalmist compares God’s mercy towards us, to the distance between the Heavens and the earth which for us is unfathomable.
For us His children, He sent His son, Jesus Christ to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Jesus died so that we may have everlasting life. Through His death Jesus didn’t hide our sins, he didn’t temporarily remove them, He gave us forgiveness of our sins for eternity so that all those who believe in Him and love Him and respect Him will have eternal life in Heaven.
When we live our lives by the word of God and put our faith in God, He accepts us as His children and is merciful to us. How much more love and forgiveness can we expect from a God who sacrificed His only son on the cross so that you and I may have everlasting life.
