Psalm 103:13-14 (NKJV): As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
The word pity in this verse means compassion and tenderness that God has towards us, His children. As parents, we have unlimited compassion for our children because we love them and always wish the best for them. In 1 John 3:1, the Bible says that God loves us so much that He calls us His children. How much more love and compassion then, does He have for us than earthly parents.
God created us from dust. He created us in His image and breathed life into us. In Jeremiah 1:5 God says He knew us before he formed us in our mother’s womb. How powerful is that word to us? The God who created Heaven and Earth and everything on it knows us. He has a plan and purpose for our lives.
God knows our strengths and weaknesses. In Psalm 139:2 the Bible says he knows when we sit and when we rise, and He knows our thoughts. He knows we are weak and may give in to sin. That is why He sent His son Jesus Christ to deliver us from sin and gave His Holy Spirit to us so that we may strength through the Holy Spirit to overcome sin and temptation and live a righteous life.
