Isaiah 55:7 – “Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts, Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; For He will abundantly pardon.”
We all know that it is not an easy thing to change our ways: how we speak, our habits, the food we like, and so on. Even harder is to change our sinful way, the things that we do – that do not please God, and that we know harms us.
The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:2a “Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think.” (GWT). So the first thing we need to do is to change our way, our lifestyle; second, we need to change the way we think, which will affect our thoughts, our habits. Then when this happens, we will return to the Lord, because we will definetely repent from our wicked ways. In turn, the Lord will have mercy upon us, and He will abudantly pardon us.
What a beautiful promise awaits us from a good God who is so ready to forgive our sins, and not in a small amount, but abundantly.
The thing is, that now is the right time to repent! We need to change our wicked ways while God is near us, while he can still hear us, and while He can still be found by us. (Isaiah 55:6). Our God has the power to transform us, from the inside out. And when we follow His ways, “then (we) will always be able to determine what God really wants – what is good, pleasing, and perfect.” (Romans 12:2b). Amen.
