The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18 

It is a broken world we’re living in. Just a glimpse at the daily news is enough to dampen our spirits. There are so much hatred and violence, terror, and death happening around us. We may be tempted to question where God is amidst this mess. King David too experienced the horrors of war, loss, and betrayal, and he gives us an answer in today’s verse.

When you’re feeling wrecked and ruined, God is near you.
When your dreams have crumbled and you have no hope, God is near you.
When you’re struggling with a secret sin and want to be free, God is near you.
When you regret the decisions you’ve made and want to turn around, God is near you.
When anxiety grips your heart and you’re desperate for help, God is near you.
When the cares of this world threaten to extinguish your faith, God is near you.
When your heart is broken and your spirit is crushed, God is near you.

Jesus did not save you from darkness to abandon you now. His love for you will never end. No matter what kind of brokenness you may be experiencing in your life, remember that God is with you. Call to Him, and He will answer you. Let His love bind up your broken heart and help you live again.
