“Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”

The Lord Jesus Christ said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). If you believe in Him, you don’t have to stumble through the dark places – God Himself is your light. Then again in Matthew 5:14, Jesus says, “You are the light of the world” because when you’re walking in His light, you start reflecting His light into the darkness of this world.

Today’s verse says that when you grow in spiritual wisdom and walk in closer intimacy with the Lord, you start shining brightly like the stars. His light crowds out the dark places in your heart and helps you renew your mind. If you allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in your life, He will transform you from the inside out. You will no longer be bound to your old life and negative thought patterns – which will bring about a change in your words and actions as well.

When others see your changed behavior, they will glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). The words you speak, the way you live your life, and how you react to situations, will show others around you, who’s on the throne of your life. Shine God’s light through your life and let it dispel the darkness around you.
